The Journal of Planning, the official publication of the UCTEA Chamber of City Planners of Turkey, was launched in 1986. The main aim of the Journal is to correlate the relationship between practices and theories with support of academicians as well as to announce and evaluate professional practices among colleagues.
Even though the publication of the Journal of Planning had some breaks, it has been published since 2003. UCTEA Chamber of City Planners Istanbul Branch who handles the publication since 2013 targeted to advance the Journal to a peer-reviewed indexed journal which would be recognized as a scientific publication. In line with this, the Journal of Planning is listed as “national peer-reviewed journal” in ULAKBIM Social Science Database by TUBITAK and indexed in Ulrich’s and Avery (Index) since 2013; in Web of Science, Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) Database since 2015; in TUBITAK ULAKBIM TR Index Social Science Database since 2017; in European Reference Index For The Humanities And Social Sciences (ERIHPLUS) since 2019; in EBSCO since the end of 2020, in Idealonline, GALE and Asian Science Citation Index(ASCI) indexed starting to 2024.
The Journal of Planning, published online three volumes per year, strives to disseminate academic research and local implementation examples from the fields of urban and regional planning and related areas, as well as urban and regional policies and planning tools to colleagues and readers. The number of submissions to the Journal, which successfully achieves its goal of being a scientific publication, is increasing day by day; expert referees and advisory boards in the field are also expanding, contributing significantly to the impartial evaluation process of the articles with great dedication and effort.
The Journal of Planning follows the guidelines of the Council of Science Editors (CSE), the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), and the European Association of Science Editors (EASE) in its publication policies and editorial processes. The Journal, which offers open access, also adheres to the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) Declaration. Content published free of charge in the Journal is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution - NonCommercial 4.0 International License.
Article submissions to the Journal of Planning are accepted online. Article submission can be made by using the “Submit Article” tab on the website (www.planlamadergisi.org).
In this context, applicants are welcomed to submit original research articles, review articles, opinions, book reviews, and current discussions and evaluations related to the profession to our Editorial Board in order to dissemination to a bigger network of colleagues and readers in various fields such as urban and regional planning, regional development, rural area planning, environment and ecology, urban design, urban conservation, urban renewal and transformation, urban sociology, urban economics, local administrations, urban transport planning, landscape planning, disaster management, and migration.
